Australia and the UN Sustainable development Goals – the role of individuals and not for profits

A summary of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and their context as a roadmap for global sustainable development. Australia’s progress against the goals will be discussed and areas for improvement will be proposed. The presentation will conclude with a proposal as to what individuals and institutions can do to put Australia and on the path to a truly sustainable future.

Steve Lennon has more than 30 years’ experience in the power sector. He is recognised as an international expert in energy and technological innovation, with specialist knowledge in sustainability, climate change, energy planning and strategy and non-renewable and renewable energy and networks. Steve is President of the United Nations Association of Australia in WA, dealing with Human Rights, Women’s Equality, Environment, Sustainable Development Goals and youth global citizenship. He is also a director of South Africa’s Technology Innovation Agency, Fusion Energy Holdings (a diversified clean energy business), Shanduvan Pty Ltd (a niche energy sector advisory business) and Solajoule Pty Ltd (a solar water pumping and lighting business).

With the significance of Rotary’s role in establishing the United Nations in 1946, it is fitting an appropriate to draw a link between our two great global organisations.
