Prostate Cancer
Standing with the Men We Love. The Long Walk Prostate Cancer Sep 21, 2025 9:00 AM

This time of year is all about the men in our lives—our dads, sons, brothers, and friends. We celebrate them, and we want them to have long, healthy lives, free from the shadow of cancer.   Date:  Sunday 21 September;   Time:  9am;    Meeting Place:  Mends St Jetty, South Perth

Standing with the Men We Love: A Walk to Fight Prostate Cancer

This time of year is all about the men in our lives—our dads, sons, brothers, and friends. We celebrate them, and we want them to have long, healthy lives, free from the shadow of cancer.

Prostate cancer is a serious reality for many Australian families, affecting 1 in 5 men. To help them, Perth Rotarians come together each year to walk the bridges, raising awareness and funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA).

This year, our walk is on Sunday, September 21. We'd love for you to join us! If you're a Perth Rotarian, wearing our new Centenary Shirt would be a great way to show our club's unity and make a visual impact as we walk.

If you can't be there, you can still be a part of the effort. Your donation makes a real difference in the lives of men and their families. Please consider donating via this link: https://www.thelongrun.org.au/fundraisers/theperthrotaryclub2025.

And if you need another reason to come out, our Immediate Past President Manu, a true "Marathon Man," will be running the bridges and will lap the walkers twice! It's a great opportunity to cheer him on, raise awareness for a critical cause, and help ensure our men have the best possible chance at a healthy future.

Thank you for your generosity. Every donation is tax-deductible, and you will receive a receipt via email.

Jill & Manu

on behalf of Fellowship | Perth Rotary Club

We are delighted to have the acclaimed Renee Kennedy to speak to us about the Western Australian feature film ‘The Golden Age’, which is expected to enter production in 2026.  ‘The Golden Age’ is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by award-winning Western Australian author Joan London.  Set in a 1950s Perth children’s convalescent home during the polio epidemic, this poignant post-war coming-of-age story centers on the enduring friendship between Frank, a Hungarian Jewish refugee, and Elsa, an Australian girl. It’s a compelling narrative of resilience and love prevailing through adversity. The film explores the impacts of polio and war while emphasizing unity.

Trust – Can’t Live With It, Can’t Live Without It
Hypothetical Discussion | Another RMBWA Event Trust – Can’t Live With It, Can’t Live Without It Nov 11, 2025 5:30 PM
We will engage in the thought provoking discussion centered around, "Trust—can’t live with it, can’t find it without work." This phrase doesn’t just capture a philosophical idea—it defines a lived paradox. Trust is both foundational and fragile, vital, and elusive. It underpins everything from global commerce to personal love, from community safety to political legitimacy. And yet, it isn’t guaranteed by status, slogans, or even sincerity. It must be earned, held, and—when lost—fought for. Because sociologically, trust is the hidden contract that lets society function. Economies stagnate without it. Communities fragment. Teams underperform. Democracy weakens. It is, quite literally, the social currency that powers cooperation.
