Asia Outlook 2022: Opportunities & Implications for Businesses

With Australia and many countries in Asia gradually easing COVID-19 restrictions and resuming open borders, it is timely to understand how Asia will sustain its projected surge, what drives the regional markets, and how cooperation with Asia remains crucial for Australia to adapt to the changing economic landscape.

Presented by Dr Sandy Chong of Verity Consulting and Chair of the ASEAN Business Alliance, the talk will share insights on Asia’s growth and how it is creating opportunities for businesses. More importantly, how Australia can continue to engage with Asia to achieve resilient and sustained recovery post-pandemic.

A Harvard Alumna and Principal of Verity Consulting, Dr Sandy Chong is the winner of 2020 USA Stevie® International Business Awards for Executive of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year, 2019 Asia's Top Sustainability Women of the Year, and 2016 Singapore Management Consultant of the Year.

Sandy earned her PhD (2003) specializing in digital strategy and international business communication with over 15 years’ experience in leading international growth projects worldwide. Sandy has trained and advised trade agencies, industry peak bodies and businesses including American Express, Yahoo!, Sun Microsystems, Apple, Miele, Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science & Innovation (JTSI), and Enterprise Singapore.

The first Asian to be appointed to the board of WA-indigenous Tourism Council and elected the President of the United Nations Association in WA, Sandy is a strong advocate of international trade and economic empowerment as pathways to peace and security. She currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Curtin University, a Board Director at an ASX-listed company, and is the Chair of the ASEAN Business Alliance to promote trade and investment in the region. Sandy was awarded the Australia Community Citizen of the Year by the Governor in 2020 for her contribution locally and abroad.
