First Woman in the Australian Senate Dorothy Tangney, 1943 and serving continuously for twenty-five years to 1967.
A Freo girl who eventually became a Dame, Dame Dorothy served on numerous committees particularly education and social policy. She was the Labor Party’s only female parliamentarian throughout all of her years of service. Her niece and biographer, Maxine Muir will be giving Perth Rotary the drum on Aunty Dot.
