June 2025: Boron Community Education Center Completed in Cambodia
Thanks to the enduring generosity of the Smith, Robinson, Mulgrew, and Hemsley families, the Boron Community Education Center in Battambang Province, Cambodia, has officially opened its doors.
This marks the 13th rural education center established by Cambodia Family Support (CFS), a Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) project, and the 9th school supported by this inspiring group of Perth families.
Why Boron Village?
Children in Boron Village face immense barriers to education: poverty, long distances to government schools, and family responsibilities that keep them at home. The new school was built to change that.
With the completion of this project, at least 50 children, many of whom were previously unenrolled or had dropped out, now have access to education.
From Vision to Reality
The original location near a gully posed a hazard, but after discussion with the village chief, the community rallied to fill the site and prepare it for safe construction.

A traditional Khmer blessing marked the start of the build. CFS staff, led by Dr. Samnang, closely monitored the process to ensure high standards were met throughout.

A Joyful Opening
The Boron Community Education Center was officially opened in June 2025.
The District Governor of Rattanak Mondul, local teachers, parents, and children gathered for a warm inauguration ceremony, during which an official letter of appreciation was presented to CFS in recognition of the Australian families’ incredible contribution.
A Message of Thanks
“On behalf of the children and families of Boron Village, we extend our deepest gratitude. This school offers more than education—it offers a future. Thank you for helping us break the cycle of poverty, one village at a time.” – Dr. Samnang ENG, Director of CFS
