Dear all
I have some great news to share with you all. We are scheduled to have Martin Crabb (CIO – Shaw & Partners) present to the club as the guest speaker on the 7th March luncheon. Shaw & Partners is a national wealth management business and I have a great connection who you all will get to meet at the lunch. An Irish friend of mine who I have worked with for over 10+ years in Perth. He is not a Rotarian yet but he lives every day of his life following the Rotary Four Way Test.
Shaw & Partners Charity Foundation has come onboard to support us with our fundraising efforts. We have committed to PROST that we will raise $40,000. PROST will be able to establish more centres for men recovering from Prostate Cancer Surgery to excercise and heal with these funds raised by the Perth Rotary Club. (detailed information below if you would like to know more about PROST). Current Chairman of PROST is our own club member, Jeff Leach.
Starting today, Shaw & Partners Charity Foundation has agreed to match $ for $ for the funds raised till Friday, 7th March 2025 to the maximum limit of $5,000.
If anyone would want to put their investment brain to work, getting a deal where you double your money is not bad at all. Put simply, if I donate $500 to PROST before 7th March 2025, Shaw & Partners Charity Foundation will throw in another $500 to double the impact. Further, your donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE so everyone walks away happy. Even if you cannot attend lunch, please consider donating direct to SNBT, details on the flyer below.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible to hear from Martin who is amazing in articulating his market insights and given the changes we have seen in the world and in Australia over the last 3-6 months, it is timely to have someone talk us through where the world is headed and learn from the experts. If you are yet to book, please book ASAP as the bookings close tomorrow, 4th March 2025. Booking link - https://www.trybooking.com/CYAIQ
We had a fantastic lunch meeting on 21st Feb with Mark Nagalazas as the guest speaker presenting on “When Hollywood Gets Ready To Invade The Wild West”. We also welcomed Dr Roger Dong as the newest member of our club who is passionate in working with the Youth portfolio specially NYSF (National Youth Science Forum) and other leadership courses.
The next Rotary Means Business networking event is scheduled for tomorrow (4th March 2025) and if you are yet to book, here is the link - https://events.humanitix.com/sundowner-discovery-networking-meeting-another-rmbwa-event. I have met a number of people at the event that I have connected with professionally and this is clearly a great value add to the members especially if you are not able to attend the Friday lunches.
Our second luncheon for March is on 21st March and we have 6 visiting panelists from RI District 5300. The Panelists expertise covers a wide range of topics; family violence, homelessness, trafficking, and substance abuse and the police & NGO’s work in this space. Significantly, there are survivors among them now working in these fields to support youth an initiative that aligns well with our Rotary projects, Passages and Path of Hope. Finally, District Conference from 28th to 30th March in Margaret River. I am taking my family for a mini get away for the weekend so look forward to mingling with lots of Rotarians over the weekend and not forgetting, secretly I am planning to visit a winery or two of course for a nice lunch with the family but if they have a good red, I will try that too!! Manu .
A note from the Conference Committee....

Our Conference will bring together keynote speakers from Rotary industry, academia, and government to discuss current future challenges and opportunities we face as a State and for Rotary as a community service organisation. We believe that attending this conference will provide you with an opportunity to gain insights and learn from the best in the field, while providing opportunities to network with other Rotarians. One highlight of the Conference will be a Saturday night concert and picnic at the Sound Shelter adjoining the Heart. Registration for the conference is now open. The cost of a full registration is $295 with partners paying $80 for Friday night drinks and Saturday night.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at lunch this Friday,
Regards,
Manu
