PERTH ROTARY LOOKS AT WAYS TO GROW ASIAN MARKETS
Perth Rotary’s traditional Chinese New Year lunch this year focussed on ways in which WA could build a stronger economy by improving entrepreneurship with Asia.
More than 60 Rotarians attended the Parmelia lunch to share in a panel discussion chaired by Dr Sandy Chong, Founder of Verity Consulting.
Others on the panel included Camille Chen (Legend Media Group), Dr Marcus Tan (Healthengine), and Duc Pham (Perth Business Network.)
Ms Chen, who spent many years in Taiwan involved in the movie industry, said films were a great way to strengthen the link with Asia.
Others on the panel said Asian values such as resilience, self sufficiency and agility were some of the success factors for entrepreneurship as was knowledge of both eastern and western cultures.
It was also essential to be mindful of unconscious bias, which will impact on the way we initiate and communicate across different cultures in business
All panel members agreed it was important to be sincere, especially if there was a language barrier.
This could be overcome by expressing our demeanour, body language and tone in a humble and down to earth manner while interacting with Asian counterparts.
