An update from Shelterbox Australia CEO, Mike Greenslade regarding the constant challenges faced.....

“The sharp rise in the number of people displaced within their own countries is a worrying trend, affecting more countries and territories around the world.   “More than 1.6 million people are being uprooted from their homes every week on average because of conflict or disaster, yet not enough is being done to protect people from being displaced.  “Even more sobering is that people displaced by conflict are being displaced by extreme weather too, and that makes it far harder for people to recover.  “We’re seeing this in many of our responses, where communities, in places like Yemen, Myanmar, and Mozambique don't have time to recover from one crisis before the next one hits.  “While it’s becoming harder and harder for humanitarian organisations to meet the challenges with fewer funding options, we’re continuously adapting, working with local people to find better and longer-lasting solutions.”

Below, you'll find the latest news from some of those countries mentioned above, like Myanmar, and the more forgotten crises in Syria, Yemen and Mozambique.

There is still an opportunity to join me and our Board Chair, Dr Rob Walliser on October's Cape to Cape trek. You can sign up before 30th June for just one dollar! There are only six places left, so now is the time to commit.

Next month, on World Refugee Day we'll be launching our #OFFTHEGRID25 campaign. We'll be challenging supporters to 'off the grid' to raise funds and awareness for those left homeless or forced to flee, by disaster and conflict. If that sounds like something you and your family, friends or colleagues would be interested in, you can find out more here: https://offthegrid-2025.raiselysite.com/

This month's quote comes from the Dalai Lama, "In order to carry a positive action we must develop here a positive vision."

Thanks for being part of the team.
