PERTH ROTARY - PRESIDENTS UPDATE - 16th JULY 2019
Fellow Members and friends.
Through the lines of our Bulletin I want to thank you for the support that you have showed to our Club and especially the more senior members for their long and much appreciated trust and contribution through the years.
Last Friday’s meeting was dedicated to the planning for the new Rotary Year and I was delighted to see that most of our Past Presidents – including our District Governor- where there, along with other senior members who have all established our Club’s name and history.

Our presentation started with a very emotional video about homelessness which metaphorically projected our Why for what we do as Rotarians, who we are and what we’d like to achieve. We highlighted our goals for this year and the strategies that will take us there. We also discussed why it is important to take action in the selected areas and what will be the benefits for our Club.

Regarding our weekly meetings, we presented a plan that will give the opportunity to every member to attend at least twice a month by providing a plethora of meeting time options.

In particular, there will be one “breakfast business-meeting” every month with speakers coming from the areas of Business, Economy, Politics. Our traditional “Perth Rotary lunch meeting” once a month with speakers coming from the areas of the Community, Charity and Rotary. One “cocktail night” every month for business and social networking with entrepreneurs, leaders of the economy, lifestyle trend setters and sports personalities invited as guest speakers. A “members’ and friends’ family buffet” once a month, where we will be coming with our families and our friends to enjoy a BBQ buffet, music entertainment, surprises for the kids and also a unique opportunity for our families, children and grandchildren to get to know each other!

Finally, two “Meet the Winemaker” sommelier sessions about wines, wine tasting and wine drinking of course!

Based on the abundance of opportunity that every member will have  now regarding our Club’s meeting times and the quality of speakers that we have started booking already, we expect to see our Club becoming a destination in the city not for its members only but also for its many friends who will find it now easier to come and join us.

Our President Elect Jill Dawson and the Chairman of our Membership Committee, Ashley Whitworth, have started applying their strategies in the areas of Membership, Communications and Project Committees that will bring our Club closer to the achievement of our goals for the year. Also, this year, we will launch a few projects of substantial importance and their contribution to the Club and to the general welfare was discussed in last Friday’s meeting, too.

At the end of our presentation we had a very constructive Q+A session with the members and it was very interesting to hear and to see the general perception which was in support of our Club, while all the comments and concerns were noted for further review.

This year will be a very important one for the role of our Club in the Community, locally, interstate and internationally.

We would like to see every member joining a Project committee and we invite those who are friends of our Club to come to one of our next meetings and see how Perth Rotary can make a difference in their lives.

Together we can make it happen!

Yours in Perth Rotary,
Vangelis Katsaitis
Perth Rotary President 2019-2020
