Last Thursday 24 September was the launch of the 2020 Vienna Pops New Years Eve Gala Concert at the Cottesloe Central Shopping Centre. 164 people registered to attend the event and we were thrilled beyond words with the professional manner in which Showman & Vienna Pops Musical Director, Mark Coughlan ignited the crowd with a description of not just a New Years Eve Concert… but what might be “The Only Show in Town” come New Years Eve!
Amy Manford captivated the audience with her rendition of ‘I Could Have Danced All Night’ by Lerner & Lowe; “Je Veux Vivre” by Gounod and an encore …… “Think of Me”, by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Amy was the star of the 2019 Vienna Pops NYE Concert and generously came back to launch this year’s concert as a friend of Perth Rotary. We so appreciate her generosity, not to mention talent.
Talking of talent…. All 6ft 1” of Devon Lake sang “Per Te” by Josh Brogan. Devon is a seventeen year old student from All Saints College who sings with the maturity of a future star. Devon recently won first prize in the prestigious Royal Over-Seas League Award for Young Singers and is Perth Rotary’s Rising Star this year.

We invite you to join us at the Perth Concert Hall, 31 December 2020 to ring in the New Year with Australian soprano and audience favorite Rachelle Durkin who will be returning from New York to join Music Director Mark Coughlan and the Vienna Pops Orchestra to fill the Perth Concert Hall with glorious and uplifting music. Rachelle has performed around the world and with her brilliant, pure voice and captivating stage presence is a winning combination, whether in traditional opera numbers or more popular repertoire.
We also welcome back Devon Lake to the stage as the 2020 Perth Rotary Rising Star.
