Hypothetical Discussion | Another RMBWA Event

Trust – Can’t Live With It, Can’t Live Without It

Nov 11, 2025 5:30 PM
We will engage in the thought provoking discussion centered around, "Trust—can’t live with it, can’t find it without work." This phrase doesn’t just capture a philosophical idea—it defines a lived paradox. Trust is both foundational and fragile, vital, and elusive. It underpins everything from global commerce to personal love, from community safety to political legitimacy. And yet, it isn’t guaranteed by status, slogans, or even sincerity. It must be earned, held, and—when lost—fought for. Because sociologically, trust is the hidden contract that lets society function. Economies stagnate without it. Communities fragment. Teams underperform. Democracy weakens. It is, quite literally, the social currency that powers cooperation.

The PERTH Trial – Plastic Exposure Reduction Transforms Health

Dec 05, 2025 12:15 PM

Come and join us for Rotary Fellowship and hear from our speaker, Immunologist/Immunopathologist and Clinician-Scientist Professor Michaela Lucas, on the results of her ground breaking research.

The PERTH Trial (Plastic Exposure Reduction Transforms Health) is a groundbreaking study exploring the impact of plastic chemicals on adult health. Focusing on chemicals like BPA and phthalates—known endocrine disruptors—the study examines their potential link to chronic diseases.

Through a seven-week assessment involving blood, urine, and stool sample analysis, as well as dietary recalls, the research aims to uncover common sources of plastic exposure in everyday life, how these chemicals are processed by the body, and their possible contribution to inflammation and long-term health risks.

This presentation will discuss outcomes of this study and describe the ongoing larger randomised clinical trial being conducted with volunteers living with bigger bodies.
