John's presentation promises to deliver his remarkable story of making a great difference to our world. He has deftly combined a university degree and full-time teaching (including the roles of principal and vice principal, headmaster and professor) for 36 years, with a semi-professional cricket career (including head coach, Chairman of Selectors for the Australian Cricket Team, playing and captaining first-class cricket for WA, SA and Australia) over a period of 23 years. 

Since retiring in 2014, he hasn't stopped, his activites continuing this "teaching plus cricket" theme, including:
Teach for Australia, a not-for-profit whose mission is to address educational disadvantage).
On My Feet, a not-for-profit that addresses homelessness through encouraging goal setting and exercise.
Balga Senior High School Board.
EdConnect, a not-for-profit where volunteers go into schools to mentor students who are struggling.
Western Australian Cricket Association.
University of Western Australia Cricket Club.
Old Haleians Association.
