RSLWA - Putting Veterans and Family First
In July 1960 Peter was selected for entry into the Australian Army’s Officer Cadet School, Portsea, Victoria and was commissioned in June 1961 as a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery. Then followed nearly 30 years military service in a variety of postings in Australia and overseas, including operational service in South Vietnam in 1966/67 including involvement in the Battle of Long Tan.
Peter resigned his commission in 1988 to take up an executive position with the AMP Society in its head office in Sydney where he worked for 9 years. After completing post graduate studies in strategic marketing he was invited to become the assistant to the Professor of Strategic Marketing at Charles Sturt University, Professor Ramzi Fayed, although his main assignments occurred through the Professor’s consultancy business in Sydney, the International Marketing Institute of Australia. In this role Peter consulted with organisations that included Telstra, News Ltd, Standards Australia and Roche Pharmaceuticals Australia.
Retirement, at the end of 2000, to the Blue Mountains, NSW, was interrupted by a change in family circumstances resulting in Peter returning, in 2003, to his home town of Albany where he now lives with his companion Carolyn.
Peter is immediate past president of the Albany RSL Sub-branch, for 8 years was the Great Southern representative on the Board of Directors of RSLWA and past president of the Albany Aero and the Probus Albany Central clubs. Peter also was chair of the Albany Centenary of Anzac Alliance from its inception until its dissolution in December 2012.
